Does HKDA provide clinical dental services or give recommendation on selection of dentist? Our Association does not provide any clinical dental services. Does the Government provide dental service? The Government provides emergency dental services (for pain relief and extraction only) to the public at designated clinics. Please refer to the website (http://www.dh.gov.hk/english/tele/tele_chc/tele_chc_dcgps.html) for the service hours and information of individual designated clinics.
What is the approximate price range for different kinds of dental treatment? Treatment fee will vary from case to case depending on the patient's oral health condition. Please consult your dentist about the fee before receiving treatment.
What should I do if I want to lodge a complaint against a dentist? The Dental Council of Hong Kong is responsible for the regulation of the professional standards and discipline of the profession. Please refer to its website (http://www.dchk.org.hk) for details.
Can I request my dentist to give me a copy of my personal dental record? According to Chapter 486 of PERSONAL DATA (PRIVACY) ORDINANCE, you have the right to obtain your dental or clinical records, and the dentists should comply with your data access request within a certain timeframe. Please note that a dentist may impose a fee for complying with your data access request.
